Dryer wont start
« on: June 22, 2014, 11:04:43 AM »
I have a Crosley Heavy Duty Dryer CDE6000W. Yesterday night i was drying clothes and noticed it did not heat my clothes so i took out the Dryer Heating Element and notice one of the springs had been broken. So I did a quick fix, well not really a fix and just kind of weaved the springs together, i shut the dryer and it was working fine but it seemed to be kind of too hot and when i sat down I noticed the dryer stopped running. Now everytime I push the dryer to start it does nothing, all i hear is the timer counting down

When you Jerry rigged the element it probably touched the side and grounded it causing the element to stay on all the time. May have blown the thermal fuse and/or the hi limit tco.

Replace the heater, LA-1044 and limit kit, LA-1053.  While you're in there clean out the lint housing and the make sure the vent is clear.  I rarely see these heaters break but when I do it's always because of restricted airflow.

I took apart the back panel on the dryer and seen this. Are those two bottom leads suppose to have a wire plugged into it like the top one. I noticed the 2nd bottom connections don't have a wire going into them

I don't know what your looking at, but the image of the dryer cord looks correct to me.
Are you maybe looking at the two locking nuts that hold the terminal block to the dryer?

I was referring to how the wire comes in from the plug into the crimp, i noticed the top one has wires going into both crimps but than the bottom two the middle one on the bottom side has a few strands going into it and the bottom one it has none. I just didn't know if that was right or some of the wires burnt out

Any dryer cords connections that I have seen "burnt out" are easy to spot because of the dark burn marks. Your dryer cord connections look fine to me.
