Maytag DE106 dryer timer advice
« on: June 16, 2014, 09:49:33 PM »
Hello. I have this old but great dryer that has developed a problem. Basically, the dryer does not turn off. It goes nonstop, so you have to manually turn it off.

I am hoping someone here has dealt with this issue before and can help me solve the issue. I replaced this part-Maytag Dryer Timer 33302454 with a new part but it still does not cycle off. I am wondering if the 2 cycling thermostats affect the timer or just simply the heat element.

I guess I should also check the timer wiring since I don't hear it running. I would appreciate any input or help in solving this problem.

Thanks,
Ray Saenz

This is a late 70's bottom line dryer. Does not have auto-dry, just timed dry so cycling thermostat has no affect on timer motor operation. Would need to see wiring diagram if you have it.

Ok Eric. Thanks. So the new timer itself still not working is either a defective new part, or maybe some issue with the wiring? Do you know if this dryer has any built-in/in line fuses/breakers?

No, unfortunately I don't have the diagram. I will dig in some boxes but as you mention, we bought this dryer new back around 1977.

The diagram would be on the cover of the timer area. If I remember it has constant power to the time when running,CAREFULLY check for voltage at the timer motor terminals while running.
