What's wrong with this?

This was done by an independent in my area. It lasted almost two weeks. The customer didn't want him back, so she called $ears... ???

Is that a dryer igniter on a gas range ? or am I not seeing clearly .

are the plastic wire nuts in the foil?
I mean the ignitors come with new porcelain wire nuts LOL

I'm overstocked with dryer ignitors, now I know what to do with them ;) .  I'm still trying to figure out what the foil was for.

Yep, dryer igniter. The foil kept the plastic wire nuts from melting all over the bottom of the range ( I guess) :D. I was shocked to hear it worked at all, and I'm glad the range didn't explode, because that igniter is not quite close enough to catch the gas right away. I guess the amp draw was high enough to open the valve, but I bet it went WHOOSH!!!! when it did light.... :P

I rally don't know how a person could do something like this and not worry about the consequences .Someone easily could have been killed .I'm so anal that I will never ever for any reason bypass safety features like lid switches etc or leave access  panels off if I need to come back with parts .We have a trunk slammer in my area who does this all the time .
