I have a maytag mah4000aww washer and it will not complete the full wash cycle. It will randomly stop during the wash cycle on any setting.  It just started acting up.. the other day it stopped in the middle of the wash cycle, i reset it and it went through the whole thing, then the next load it stopped after the wash cycle, i had to move it to the rinse cycle then it stopped agian and finalyt i had to move it to the spin cycle.  If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.   Thanks

Could be the door lock switch, wax motor or control board. There is a fair amount of information covering spin problems with that model washer on our site.

Hope you find our site helpful.

make sure the machine is filling and draining properly, if not the machine will time out and shut off. Check the cold and hot inlet screens on the back off the washer inside the water valve, do not remove them, clean them with a toothbrush. check drain hose and pump for restrictions if its not draining fast enough, if all that looks good more than likely a machine control board failure, good luck let us know how it goes..

I noticed the the cycle timer does not move when you hit the start button... like you start the load on normal and it goes through the wash cycle and drains then shuts off does it on every cycle. You have to manually move it to rinse and spin to get a load done. Could the timer just be bad?

If the timer doesn't advance and you have to turn it manually to every cycle it's a safe bet that the timer is bad.
