Refrigerator Repair Position
« on: June 04, 2014, 09:19:04 AM »
$ears just offered me a promotion to a refrigeration repair position with a $4/hr pay increase.  I honestly thought they were going to fire me for running my own business but instead want to promote me... they're working 6 days a week so no free time to run my own calls. I guess what I'm asking is, should I do it for the training and experience? Or tell them no thanks and stay where I am in Laundry/Cooking and just save up to do my own thing. I'd really like to brush up on my refrigeration skills. And this might be the best way.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Well, nevermind. Seems as though I've been promoted due to "business needs". Interesting.

Nice raise! You going to take them up on their offer?
They say money can't by happiness. I'll probably never get the chance to find out, lol...

Sounds like business needs means there are more refrigerators breaking down and not enough Tech's to do the calls

I'm not well versed in refrigeration.  I've been doing laundry and cooking repair for the last 15 years. I fix a fridge here and there but I mainly guess...

Business needs apparently means they will be promoting everyone with an EPA cert.

Would you no longer be repairing laundry and cooking products then?

Sealed system refrigeration and cooking/dishwashers. I'm excited to learn something new. I've been turning down a lot of refrigeration jobs for my biz because I'm not to comfortable working on them.

Nice raise, let them pay for any mistakes you make while learning the new stuff. I haven't seen a raise in the 6 years I've been back with them.
