Thanks. I had a service call on this refrigerator (from a former Louisiana state representative) because it wasn't freezing in the freezer. It was cold but not nearly as cold as it should be. Compressor was running, coils were clean, and customer also complained of a noise in freezer. I listened and heard a noise similar to the water valve trying to send water to the icemaker (solenoid) even though there was no icemaker and no water line connected. Also, the noise was coming from the RIGHT side of freezer opposite of where the icemaker is (left side) and where the cap tube enters freezer. I removed evaporator cover in freezer and found that there was no frost on evaporator but I found a large solid chunk of hard ice in the right side of freezer where the cap tube enters and it was also covering the defrost thermostat. This is where the noise was coming from every couple of minutes or so. Looks like probably moisture in the sealed system and is freezing? I took a couple of pictures on my IPhone and have attached them to this post. The unit also has a control board but I don't have any info on this refrigerator. Manufacture date on this unit is 07/12. Any advise on this from you guys will be appreciated. I also looked at the warranty and it only mentions 1 year and doesn't mention the sealed system warranty. Is the sealed system warrantied for 5 years? I am not an "authorized" Whirlpool technician so I would not put a line tap on it thinking it is still under warranty.
