Whirlpool fridge water dispenser

I have a 1998 Whirlpool Gold side by side. The ice maker works, but I'm worried about the water dispenser. It has started to delay when calling for water. The delay is gradually getting worse. If two people in a row use it, the second person doesn't have a delay.

I'd like to fix it before it breaks completely.

Any ideas?

Check for water under the refrigerator. A delay usually indicates a leak in the discharge tubing from the cold water reservoir to the dispenser.
