Recently had a water boil-over on the top right burner apparently causing a short circuit. Breaker is popped and a reset only causes a small puff of smoke (electrical type). Is the main circuit board fried? Or shorted something else? No lights, no anything from the oven...anyone know how to proceed? scrap or repair?  Thanks

Maytag double oven boil over shorted out problem. Have removed back panel and according to electrical schematic, disconnected black wire going to top valve switches. I now have a working motherboard and both ovens operate normally, essentially removing stove top components from the circuit. Is it possible to remove stove top in an attempt to isolate problem (short)?

more than likely shorted out one of the ignitor switch's, there are four of them one on each valve shaft behind each burner knob.

That's pretty much what I had figured. Question is how to get at it? In order to remove top cover, gas lines must be removed, correct? Would prefer to just isolate that particular shorted valve so as to not put any money in it, and only have three functional burners, but not sure if that's an option. Please advise.

There's no need to remove gas lines, just a lot of screws.  You can download the service manual at http://appliancejunk.com/googledrive. Look for manual 16023415. Your part number, 12002790, includes all four switches and harness.

Have identified and removed shorted igniter switch. Due to corrosion, five of the eight top-side burner screws had to be drilled out in order to remove top . I now have a gas leak from one of the burner assemblies, I think I know which one but not absolutely sure. How do I proceed to perform a gas leak test? The two front burners have broken screws in them, which, I will have to replace along with the igniter switch. Please advise.
