Frigidaire Freezer not Cold Enough

Model #FFU1464FW1, the customer just had this freezer installed and after a couple days noticed that it didn't seem to be as cold as they expected. There tool for determining the proper temperature was the gallon container of ice cream that was soft. Not a truly accurate measuring device, but effective in this case.



Check the Easy Stuff First
Once I opened the door, I noticed this unit seemed very quiet for a freezer and there was no sound coming from the evaporator, which told me the fan wasn't running. A few screws and the evaporator cover was out of the way, and sure enough, the fan was just sitting there stuck. A quick inspection showed that some excess cavity insulation had made its way to the back liner of this unit and lodged itself at just the right spot to cause trouble. Once the foam was removed, the fan took off running, and now this freezer is keeping the ice cream just the way I like it, er, the way they like it.
