lg lds4821bb Dishwasher
« on: April 24, 2014, 09:04:59 PM »
Hey guys
I am hoping that someone can help. I have a 2.5 year old LG lds4821bb. The start cycle drains first, fills and then drains again, and then the pump starts. If after the 2nd draining I open up the door and put about 10 cups of water in it it stays and washes the dishes quite well. If I don't, the soap block just stays fairly undissolved at the bottom of the dishwasher and of course the dishes are still dirty.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Hans

It sounds like its not getting enough(or any) water. I would look in the direction of the water valve area first. also make sure that where the braided line goes in, that nothing is caught in the screen/filter. Sometimes it gets built up with sediment

Thank you for responding.
Sorry,  no matter how much information you try to post there is always stuff I forget. Lol.
Water valve is working as when I open the dishwasher after the fill cycle it has the water covering the bottom of the dishwasher, but no sooner does the valve stop the drain pump starts and empties it. Shortly after (with the door now closed the spray pump starts. The solenoid does open again but only for 10 secs and shuts off again.
I have done the basics, checked the water solenoid screen and it is perfectly clear. Took thewands apart and cleaned, pulled the filter out, impeller out and cleaned as well.
Thanks again for your response
Hans

there is a float in the fill system,  is it stuck?  it is in a white plastic tank follow fill line it goes through tank and into dishwasher and a line come from sump area similar to samsung.  check for siphoning through drain when pump out pump starts open door to shut off pump out, water level should not change if water level keeps going down you have a drain problem.

Thanks Dale, I will ck the floating  the fill system tube. I  do have the anti syphon drain hose set up as per lg installation instructions. The drain pump keeps going even when the door gets opened, it shuts off when it's drained.  I know the door switch works as it shuts everything down when I open the door any other time.

These symptoms tend to occur on models with Serial Numbers ranging from 009KW to 101KW

<<<I know the door switch works as it shuts everything down when I open the door any other time.>>>

Except during *emergency drain*---triggered when too much water has entered the float that monitors/prevents an overfill condition.
This usually also triggers an error message of "E1"

The cause is a defect in the Guide Assy (part supplier snafu)

The Guide Assy must be replaced

The Part Number (4975DD1001A) has *not* been changed.

The BUILD DATE STAMP on the replacement Guide Assy must show Jan 27 2011 or newer.

John,  would the added guide bushing do the trick?

Not reliably/consistently. Best to replace the Guide Assy---for 100% success rate...

Agreed. The bushing still seems to add water at too great of a rate O0
