GE washer beeps will not start
« on: March 31, 2014, 08:12:42 PM »
Hello all, I'm at my wits end I turn to the internet for help.

I have a GE Washer gtwn4950l0ws and when I push start it beeps, a light flashes, and does nothing else.

I have used the field service mode on the washer and the washer gives me no error codes.

Initially the motor was flashing a communication error, so I replaced the control board on the washer ($160).  This changed nothing.  I cleared the communication error by unplugging and replugging (washer was unplugged) all wires to the motor. It now flashes on standby.

I have checked the lid switch by removing it and using a voltmeter. I have returned it the machine.

The pressure switch works fine is well.  It has a closed curcuit with no water in the machine.

I feel I have tried almost everything. Any guidance on my next action? Note: I really am trying to avoid buying a new washer.

Thanks for any help.

Please someone tell me what I can do to fix this washer.

I have the same situation on a GTWN5050M0WS GE washer.  What did you end up doing?

Thanks.

Had the same problem just happen, used the service mode but only error was "not filling". tried replacing lid switch but that didn't help. Payed GE the $89.95 to have tech come out and I asked what the codes meant on the service mode and he said he didn't know, but did say the motor was bad and it would cost $300.00 to fix. I got a used motor from e-bay, just installed it and it's working again.
