Durable multimeter test lead probes
« on: March 23, 2014, 09:35:18 PM »
I know that wrapping the test lead probes around my multimeter is probably the reason I have to replace my leads every couple of months or so, but I need some test leads that are made to endure my bad habits.

Mine usually come apart where the wire meets the connector that goes into the multimeter.

Any suggestions for some durable test leads?

IMHO good test leads are well worth the price.

I use the Fluke TL175 Twistguard Test Leads along with the Fluke 8845A-EFPT Extended Fine Point Tips.

I know there are cheaper option out there but this is what I use on a daily bases and it works well for me.

These seems like some very durable leads. I like this part best "Extra-heavy duty strain relief on both probe-end and plug-end, tested beyond 30,000 bends without failure".

Do you also wrap your lead cord around your multimeter like I do?

Yes I wrap them around my meter too.

Speaking from experiance a bad test lead can really screw you up when your trying to troubleshot something and aren't yet aware that you have a bad test lead, lol...

What's in your bag? What kind of test meters do you have?
