WTW4800XQ4 Part# 30- Spring
« on: March 13, 2014, 03:58:29 PM »
The parts list for my Whirlpool washer wtw4800xq4 shows two springs(#30) which look to be snubbing springs installed at the right front and right rear at the top of the tub. Some web sites showing repair of this washer show the springs. My Whirlpool rapair man says he has never seen these springs on any washer. These springs look to be hook to posts at the top of the tub trim ring and to the suspension rod. Anyone have any information if these springs actually help. It looks like Whirlpool tried the springs and then decided to drop them. Do they help? The action of this tub while spinning causes me some concern as it appears to be almost uncontrolled. Also, does anyone have any information as to the bearing/bearings that support the tub. The gearcase doesn't appear to be robust enough to house a bearing.Regards

I was hoping to get an answer, but perhaps no one has experience with this problem(or doesn't think there is a problem). I purchased the springs and will install them to see if they make a difference. Regards :)

The model number does not show that unit has the springs but wtw4800q2 does have it.Makes me believe thats not going to help your spin problem. Are you using a H.E.soap in the washing machine and are the leveling legs in the front adjusted to its lower level.http://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-spring-w10400895-ap5263280.html

Those springs are for models WITHOUT a counterbalance weight on the bottom of the tub. I believe it's a mid-year change and not listed on most parts diagrams.

If it's out of balance in spin, check for loose drive block hub nut or missing fluid in balance ring.

If lowSl2 is right about the missing fluid in balance ring.It looks like you have to buy whole inner tub.
