Remove dishwasher front panel
« on: February 27, 2014, 09:49:12 PM »
GE  Model GDT550HGD0BB

Anybody know how to get the door apart  to access the detergent dispenser?
It does not have screws to hold the outer panel on, I think it may have clips that lock it to the inner door.
There are two 1/4 screws on the underside , but removing them did not loosen anything

This is a new model DW
Thanks

31-30642 is the number of the GE tech sheet for these. A copy of it should be conveniently tucked up underneath the D/W.

GE has been putting the tech sheet by the fill valve on the new models. I use a couple of Allen wrenches to put thru the holes in hinges & a stubby 1/4 driver for the 2 screws in the bottom of the door

Thanks for all the posts for my question.
I did find the tech sheet .
It appears that , according to the sheet, the panel was incorrectly installed at the factory.
The panel has tabs with holes that the two screws mentioned in the TS should secure it to threaded tangs
(Or brackets) that are on the hinges.
This unit has the tabs for the panel sitting ON TOP of the tangs instead of on the underside of the tangs.
Can't pull forward on the lower edge of the panel far enough to have the tabs clear the tangs.
Of course this keeps the panel from dropping down.
Anyone run in to this before, or am I missing something?  (God knows wouldn't be the first time I
Couldn't see the Forrest for the trees!!!
