Whirlpool Gold Model GSF26C4EXB00 No Ice
« on: February 16, 2014, 03:51:32 PM »
I have a Whirlpool Gold refrigerator that I purchased in October 2010 that quit making ice.  I have recently changed the water filter and still get water to the door dispenser.  I swapped the wires on the dual water valve in the back and pressed the door dispenser and water entered the ice maker.  There is no IR red light when I checked it.  When I unplug the refrigerator for 10 seconds and plug it back in, the IR red light is solid.  Any suggestions?  I am thinking the IR boards need replaced?  If so, what is the correct part number for the kit that goes in my unit?

Mfg. Date 06-10
Model # GSF26C4EXB00
Serial # HR02638817

Hmm, I looked at the GSF26C4EXB00 Parts Diagram and can't seem to find the IR board.

It is #16 and 18 in the freezer door diagram.  The icemaker and bin are both on the door for my model.

Do you agree that this is the problem and both parts need replaced?  I unplugged the refrigerator earlier and the IC red light was solid.  I went back later and there is no red light.  I even held the door switches and still no red light.  I just want to make sure I have checked everything I need to and order the right parts.  Thanks for your help!

Thanks for fixing that part number A.J.Dam cat jumping all over me while typing. As far as replacing both parts i would. Is this going to fix your ice maker problem for sure i don't know.Icemaker go bad more than the optics. But you should have a solid red light just like when it was working before and making ice.

I agree with dab and if you purchase the parts from the links we posted above you can always return them. Yes even after you installed them.
AppliancePartsPros.com has a great return policy that lets you return any part for any reason up to 365 days after you purchased them.

I replaced the optics last night.  Plugged the refrigerator back in an had the solid red light.   I checked it again later and no red light, even with the door switched pushed in.  Still no red light this morning and no ice.  Any suggestions?

From the testing you did in your first post you know the water line to the ice maker is not frozen and the water valve is good.
You just changed the optics so the only thing left is the ice maker. At this point I would replace the ice maker, part number W10122576
