Samsung WF219ANW/XAA shaking
« on: February 12, 2014, 06:26:28 PM »
Customer has this washer and it shakes pretty bad.  Tub bearing seems good, tub didn't look out of round. While it was empty, I put in spin only mode and it starts to wobbly pretty early on.  all four legs are firmly on the ground.
when the speed starts to pick up, it looks like the tub is moving up and down and forward and back. almost like it has some gunk stuck on part of the tub.
I had to stop it because it started moving the washer before it got to high speed.

I should mention that he moved here recently and the moving bolts were not used in the washer. I think he moved a fairly long distance, so it probably was in a truck bouncing for a bit.  There was a dent in the panel on the back.

I am thinking about putting new shocks on. any thing else to check?

Let me know what solves this. Some say new balance rings on the front/rear of the inner tub. Some say shocks. I say shocks are ok unless they are CRACKED or PHYSICALLY damaged. I hope others chime in asap.

I put the new shocks on. It wobbled a little during the medium speed spin, but then it went into high speed no problem. Customer supposed to let me know if there are any other problems. Fingers crossed. The old shocks looked ok...
In other news, the edge of the sheetmetal is sharp. The front right top shock bolt was a little tight. After it broke free, i slashed the side of my thumb on the sheetmetal. Its right on the side of my knuckle. I went and got it stitched up.

Pretty much all of the import stuff has razor sharp sheet metal. They save a lot of $$$ in labor by not chamfering the edges.
