Input Shaft Oil Seal Kit

How do I remove the worm gear in the gearcase to replace the Input Shaft Oil Seal Kit? Kenmore washer

I maybe wrong, it happens a lot.

But I thought that seal could be replaced from the outside of the gear case.

I have never repaired one, just replaced as a unit.

Maybe JW will be along soon to set us both straight. I know he has repaired many of them.

Likewise, I have been wrong many a times also! LOL 

Sears sent two replacement seals, one is black (seen from the outside) and a red one with a smaller inside diameter that I think must me behind the black seal?

Would you have a suggestion on the best way to remove the old seal(s)?

I have one outside by the workbench . In 15 years of selling parts I came across one guy that wanted to fix the seal there on a DD tranny.That is a rare problem indeed.
