   Either a dirty terminal, loose terminal, broken wire strands within the wire insulation, damaged wire insulation exposing the wire strands...etc. These types of things cause resistance and the motor current through resistance causes heat. Heat and time cause the problem to eventually escalate to the point of failure.

I had a Kenmore gas dryer yesterday that wouldn't start due to a blown thermal fuse .  There was no schematic to take a picture of and servicematters doesn't have it.  Coin-op model 110.87407110. Serial number MB2610811, manufactured in 1992.
