I've never had a issue with fsp metal couplings but supco will break putting them on. Use fsp on couplings

I've had issues with FSP too when the brakes are "sticky". Whenever I do a coupler I always grease the brakes too.

My instinct would be to stay away from the heavy duty coupling.  It seems to me that the coupling should go, in order to save the motor or tranny.  There was a recent post on the board where a metal coupler rounded out the tranny shaft.

A bit of silicon spray up on the brake usually does a good job of lessening the impact.  IF they are overloading the machine, they need to stop, or prepare to pay you every time you go back.

My thoughts, anyway.

You should also check for play in the motor shaft.  I've had motors working wonderfully that have about a 1/4 inch of in-out play in the shaft, and that vibration eats up couplers.

Never use a metal inserted coupler.  It will round out the transmission shaft and then it's a bigger problem.

Then you must use a generic coupler as all FSP have the metal insert and I have never seen a problem with them.

I also use FSP couplers and never had one even brake on me. That coupler in the picture seems to have a little transmission oil on it to me.
