Direct drive Whirlpool Can not get it back together!!! Please help?

AJ thanks for all the help so far!!!
 I took it apart before I got your help....the coupler was broken just like you said. Now I cant seem to push the transmission(I think) back up far enough to get the three bolts into it. what am I doing wrong?    Mike

Make sure the brake package ear is not binding against the clutch spring. Don't try to force it. Take the back off (3 screws on bottom rear) and flip the tub and base over. Hay don't laugh it goes in easier like that. click on picture of brake package with ear to enlarge.

It works GREAT!!! Thanks to all for the help. This site is awsome!!!  It todays world it is noce to see peolpe helping people!  Now on to my range project...see new post....Mike
