Hello. I am new to washer repair. I am very mechanically inclined however and can follow directions well.
My Maytag SAV3655 top load washer is making a racket. I made some videos and put them on Youtube before taking it apart.
Here it is during agitation:
And here it is during spin (noise starts a little around 50 seconds then full on at 1:09 or so.):
I have removed the pump. It is clear and spins freely. I have taken the entire tub assembly out and flipped it over and then removed the pulley bolt. Then the milk thing from the bottom of the tub assembly. I noticed there was only one brake pad in place and just empty bolts where the other pads should be. When I spin the motor by itself it is smooth. When I spin the transmission by hand without anything hooked to it it spins smooth. The bearing in the center of the milk thing is in excellent condition and spins smooth. The pulley and helix thing are in good condition. The belt seems slightly worn but in good condition.
I have no idea whether to trash this washer or fix it. Any ideas on what is wrong?
