LG wm2501HWA needs reset
« on: November 13, 2013, 05:09:24 PM »
Hello all,

So this issue has been posted before, but I was hoping to ask a few follow-ups.

The original post I read was here http://appliancejunk.com/forums/index.php?topic=13237.0

My issue is that the cycle(s) seem to complete ok, but the tub light remains lit and does not reset itself; it requires that I remove/restore power to begin a new cycle.

So my questions... if it is the main control board, is there any way I can verify it is this control board and not some other relay, board, etc, perhaps via an ohm reading? Any estimates on how long the reset trick will work, as I am guessing I'm bearing witness to a control board's death? Any out there have a manufacturer repair manual they are willing to share?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Everything operates from the control board.  Replacing the control board should resolve your lighting problem but it's kinda pricey to do that.  If you want, you can disconnect the wire that leads to the led light and not worry about it anymore.  To access it, you'll have to remove the top panel and look for the disconnect next to the dispenser assembly.

Hope this helps.

That does help... thanks for the input.

My original post was a bit misleading in that while the tub light stays lit after the cycle, all buttons are non-responsive and the machine requires that I remove/restore power to make anything happen, like start another cycle. Is that indicative of a bad control board?

Thanks

It sounds like it.  Yeah, then replace the board.

Common problem on these models. Replacing the main control #EBR32268013 will resolve the problem.

Thanks for the verification everyone, and I will do. I'm still wishing for an ohm reading so that I would know it was the board. Seems strange that the main control bad could go so bad so quickly, though perhaps it is a known LG problem? Will look for a board when the money is there. For now, the reset will have to do.

Will update when I finally replace the board.

Thanks again everyone!!
