Weird Problem Kenmore Model 110.26922503
« on: November 05, 2013, 04:34:35 PM »
I went on a call last week with this Kenmore washer.  Direct drive type.  It would not agitate, when it filled up, it would stop and then the motor would sometimes humm, sometimes nothing.

All the connections seemed good.  the timer connections seemed a little loose so I pushed them in all the way and retested and it worked fine.

Worked fine until today.  Went back out.

when I got there, I started a normal cycle and it started filling and agitating at the same time
So I stopped it and put it in spin mode.  It would fill while draining and spinning.

Again, I disconeccted the timer connections and reconnected, then it works perfect.

So I am thinking that some of the contacts in the timer are sticking causing weird things.

Customer said he had the timer replaced before, about two years ago, for other reasons.

Anything else that might cause this?

THanks

I've had 3 lately . 1 of the wires for the motor harness was crimped through so when u leaned it back or touch it start up . That's on 2 of them. The other one was one of the connectors on the harness was arcing fire on the motor( didn't have a tight connection to the motor) causing the same problem. They all hummed when I tried them to spin & agitate. Hope that might help u

May want to look at pressure switch and new tube cheapest way to go.Possible timer problem also.also what does it drain into?Standpipe so air can get out when it drains so pressure switch can reset.

It does not have suction into drain problem. When it gets to the proper level it stops filling. The water level switch seems to be functioning ok which is why I suspect the timer. If the switch sensed it was full, I don't think it would cause it to agitate while filling, or fill when spinning

Thanks dab, I think so.  Waiting for customer to approve, if he does approve it, I'll post back. I think he is leaning towards a new machine...

Bad timer. It cannot fill while in spin mode unless the timer is faulty. In spin mode there is no power to the pressure switch common terminal except briefly (15-20secs) during spray. Messing with timer connector on two different occasions makes it work for a while is a big clue! Looks like that timer contact for spray (#13) is the culprit as it can cause agitation during fill and fill during spin. Read your wiring diagrams guys.
