Whirlpool Duet heating problem
« on: October 31, 2013, 06:32:37 PM »
Model WED9500TC1
Got a call for this dryer, no heat.  Checked the heater, thermostat, and both thernal fuses.  All good.  Element looked good not shorted.
Thermister tested good.

All things point to bad control board.

I installed the new control board and it worked.

An hour later the customer called and said it quit heating again.

Said it worked for one load, now it won't get hot at all.

It had good air flow, so I don't think that it would have blown a thermal between now and then.

Assuming the board is good (its new) and the heating elements and stats are all good, any thing else to look for?

Any suggestions on what to look for are appreciated

Try another thermistor even if it checks good.

So, I went back. Not the thermister. I originally checked the power and it had 240. I decided to check the error codes. F31. Low power error.
I checked again and only had 120 on one leg. I flipped the breaker back and forth and then had 120 on one side and 54 on the other. Never got correct power again.
She has an electrician coming out saturday.
Lesson learned, check the error codes, dont assume...
