When you say the tub "hits bottom", does this mean that it is banging around inside the cabinet?

There are 4 rubber tub stabilizer straps at the top of the tub that usually break and cause an off-balance condition.

Yes the whole tub / pulley everything rubs on the bottom of the washer It makes a scraping sound since it is hitiing the bottom only on large loads w/ a full tub. I assume the rubber bands r ok that keeps it from hitting the side of the tub right??  tks  jpg

Needs a bearing and seal overhaul. Spanner wrench will be needed as well.

Yuk !  What makes the whole tub asy wear out and hit bottom on large loads???? I was hoping the 4 suspension rods had worn out and made it move down an inch or two... when u say bearing does that mean a tranny?????

If the entire superstructure is sagging, the suspension rods may do the trick.

It maybe that the rods themselves are ok but the mounts on which they are located are rusted out due to liquid detergent and other stuff eating away at the mounts. I have seen it. Getthe front off and then raise the top and take a looksee.

They stretch. Yeah the rods break from time to time. But mostly down at the bottom where they hook to the tub gets rusted out.
