GE profile washer very very loud on spin cycle WPRE6100G1WT
« on: October 22, 2013, 01:06:24 PM »
It looked wobbly around the pulley/shaft area.  The pulley was on good.  (my torque wrench doesn't go to 250ft-lbs to check torque) so I figured it was the mode shaft.  I took my service call fee, and then pointed out that the drivetrain has a 10 year warranty to hand it off.  I've had these units before with motor issues, and strut issues and also changed timers and pumps in them. But never ran across this loud mechanical noise before.

But honestly I didn't know the answer, for sure.   Just wanted to do follow up research and see if anyone had similar issues (I have the service manual for this model, does not cover this noise in troubleshooting)

Youtube video of unit ---

Customer just called me and said Ge agreed to send him a new transmission and shaft, and he wants me to put it in.  (Grr I hate dealing with that air-thing under the agitator)

Now even more pressure to determine that is the correct item to fix it.  (also transmission?  I thought it was just a mode shaft on this model, no transmission in my diagrams.

hmm.  I put mode shaft, and the part number.  He told me GE told him my part number was wrong (got it from Sears teardown)  I'm away from my invoices so I need to double check.  Was just on a po-boy break.  About to go back to work
Hopefully that video shows up and I can get more info later.

I need to check the pulley, but the guy was thrifty.  This was an add on call, I was there because he had taken the bearing screws off of his GE dryer, trying to change the light. (lol)  Anyway, he showed me the washer, I looked at it and thought GE washer, I don't want to mess with it.  Gave him a really high price, and a printout of the GE warranty info for his washer, telling him drivetrain was warranteed.
