GE side by side refrig.

 What causes the center divider between refrig. and freezer to get very hot?

The mullion heater on the center divider can get overly hot because the condenser fan is blocked or not turning. Check in back to see if your coils are dirty and that the fan turns.

  Thats exactly what it was. When I arrived at the customers house I found that a small piece of foam was wedged in the condensor fan blade. It doesn't take much to stop that fan from turning.

Nope, it doesn't take much. The motors are usually only about 2-3 watts. Pretty much anything that can get back there can stop it.
