Ge microwave JVM1850sm4
« on: October 12, 2013, 09:29:55 AM »
Now I'm the 5 th company to come out here to work on the microwave JVM1850SM4 and they already replaced thermo fuses like all of them the mag the diode and the transformer wow talk about guess work now its still doing the same thing not heating now when I was trained many years ago they taught me that the monitor switch is closed when the door is open and opens when its closed right??yes we'll this unit stays open with the door closed or open it dont matter now the switch is god cause I pulled it out and it works fine soooo with that in mind I assume that the main board is bad since the switch runs thru the board and constant power always running thru it and I right ???anyone ???do we have a manual for this unit anywhere and I'm I missing something ??

If the micro switches, tco's and wiring check OK...replace the main board (smart board) WB27X11070. These things can be real head scratchers.

Wow just checked a microwave and this Ge is the same way has power all the time and wasn't heating I replaced the diode and now it works this is crazy ..ok as the one above I checked the wires to the transformer and nothing not getting 120 to the transformer even when its in a cycle but getting 120 to the board so I'm pretty sure it's the board cause its not letting 120 get to the transformer hence it won't power up the mag to heat anyone else agree with me ?? Lol

Microwaves have 2 sides of power, low & high.   Low side line voltage & below before the magnetron.  High side voltage are components associated with magnetron  ie. capacitor & magnatron.   I isolate the systems to do my troubleshooting.

I check the schematic & start at the control board.   Do I have 120v coming into board?  If I do that pretty much eliminates all fuses & thermostats before board,   Do I have 120v coming out of board,  if I don't pretty much says board is bad.  If 120v coming out I start checking high side for problems.

I am by no means an expert on M/W's  & I only do calls for high dollar built in matching sets of Microwave & ovens.   Those are few & far between & they do eat up a lot of my time.  Not real money makers, I do it mostly for the PR, gets me referrals for lucrative jobs.

So true on the making of no money on microwaves cause there isn't thats or sure keep telling my boss that but he says it all helps or they should be sent to the shop that way road techs can work on the money makers such as wolf 5 star subzero ect..yes I know have to break it down into low volts and high no doubt like I said I feel that its the main board cause no 120 getting to the transformer ..thanks for your insight Patricio

No 120 to  transformer = board or door switches-usually the monitor switch.
