Heads up on new GE dryer fuse location
« on: September 30, 2013, 08:07:31 PM »
I delivered a GE dryer today and when I took the cover off to install the cord I discovered a 30 amp fuse. This was the first time I seen this so I was curious enough to take a look at the wiring diagram. I found this fuse was on the line that the motor connects to so if it blows the dryer will not run.
I am not sure how long they have been putting this fuse on these dryers because most of the laundry we have been selling was from a huge inventory of washers and dryers be got from GE when they had a big sale in 2010 but it was the first time Iíve seen it.
Just keep it in mind if you have a fairly new GE dryer not running. Next to the cord block would be the last place I would look for a fuse if I hadnít seen this one.

This must be a "new thing" for GE. I've noticed that the new GE laundry centers ( GTUP270 )have 30 amp cartridge fuses next to the control board. Located behind the sloping panel between the washer & controls.

Are they a  standard fuse or "GE only" fuse?

I don't know how easy it will be to find buf it doesn't look like a ge only fuse.  It has ccmr30 on the fuse.

That's an expensive little fuse. I can't seem to find anywhere online for less than $30 shipped.  Grainger has it in stock for $17.  Here's a link with a list of crosses. What's the GE part number?
