I have used synthetic oil for 8 years and on a apartment laundry room. Since I have used this oil never changed a roller. Yes I lose income but picked up 4 apartment complexes from that. Guys before were out every 2-4 months to change parts.

Maytag used sintered iron bearings in their drum rollers and sold bottles of SBL lubricant for them. I asked our service rep what the initials stood for and the reply was "Synthetic Based Lubricant"

I'm on the no oil side of the debate. In the past, when I've tried cleaning and oiling squeaky rollers. I was always back within a week.  If I installed a new roller without oil, I would very rarely ever see it again.

How about the shaft the roller roll on?They are sometimes all gum up with black crap. What to you do with that .Lets says its a whirlpool dryer. You got to clean that first before installing new rollers. So another open end question what do you do?

I clean the shafts with WD-40 and a rag. Then install new rollers.
