I'm on the no oil side of the debate. In the past, when I've tried cleaning and oiling squeaky rollers. I was always back within a week.  If I installed a new roller without oil, I would very rarely ever see it again.

How about the shaft the roller roll on?They are sometimes all gum up with black crap. What to you do with that .Lets says its a whirlpool dryer. You got to clean that first before installing new rollers. So another open end question what do you do?

I clean the shafts with WD-40 and a rag. Then install new rollers.

I clean the shafts with emory cloth then then install new rollers dry.I think once a roller has begun to squeal the the bearing is damaged. If I don't have a new one I will oil it so they can use it until I get the new part.

I won't oil a squeaky roller, but oil when I install a new and never have to go back. Always clean the shaft.

I also use emery cloth to clean the shaft and then use a couple drops of synthetic oil on the shaft to get the residue of the emery cloth off the shaft and a rag to wipe off the oil so its dry and then install rollers. On any dryer i always install the belt, rollers, and pulley.I make up my own kits for all the popular dyers.Whirpool dryers i carry a least 5 F.S.P kits.If the belt is broken i change all parts and vacuum it out.Wd-40 has a strong smell to it i would be worried about smell when you turn dryer on for heat.Customer might say something about odor.
