The upper shaft is part #22002124. I would look at the shaft after you get the tubs off. If it is pitted where the shaft goes through the stem seal then replace it. You will need a new gasket when you separate the transmission. And if it was manufactured before June 1986 there is an O ring in the lower half that seals around the lower shaft. Post your serial number.

So far:
Agitator out with rope trick
Inner tub clamping nut cut off
Clamping nut washer removed
Removed Agitator drive shaft seal retaining ring
Not sure how to remove next washer
Front of unit removed
Preparing to remove tub cover clamp by using penetrating oil

Took pictures of current inner tub status as well as a view of under the outer tub, which appears good to me.

Questions :
1 Does Agitator drive shaft washer and seal lift off with tub?
2 Any tips on stubborn top cover clamp screw?
3 After removing cover, how to proceed?

Never did this before but not afraid to pursue, so need to ask basic questions.  :D
