Hi all! First off thank you in advance for any insight and tips.
I have a quite old Maytag Performa dryer...not sure of the model number, I have replaced the high limit switch and thermal fuse about 6 months ago, recently it has been stopping in the middle of the cycle with a smell of something over heating. I am afraid it is the motor but I was wondering if there could be something else that is causing this, I took the front cover off and cleaned out all the lint, the motor was very hot to the touch, the blower wheel moves easily and is clear of all debris. I have unhooked the vent hose and tried to run it again and it stops again, when it stops I notice the drum is moving very slowly. Even on the 'air' cycle it will stop at about the same interval.
Any tips or steps to try to troubleshoot are greatly appreciated.
