Can not open microwave door.

We can not open the door on our Amana microwave.

Should we just replace it or could it be something simple to fix?

Take a look at the button you push to open the door.
You will need to remove the panel the door button is on and get to the back side.
This is very easy to do after you remove the cabinet.

The button you push to open the door is held in place with four tabs. If one of them tabs break it jams the button.

That was it!

One tab was broken and the other three were ok. I removed the piece that was broken as it feel behind the button. Put the button back on, still three tabs holding it and it works!

I ordered a new button so next time it happens I will have a new button to replace it with.
