Frigidaire Model FFBD2411NS0A Problem
« on: August 07, 2013, 09:44:26 PM »
Hey guys,

I've looked around this forum and I haven't found my specific issue. I have a Frigidaire Model FFBD2411NS0A Dishwasher. It doesn't have any  display so I have no error codes. It came brand new in my house but since it broke I have read all the bad reviews. Still I'd like to fix it if I can. Here is the story..

The dishwasher worked great. Then the power went out (my neighbor said the power fluctuated before it went out). After the power came back on the high temp and heat buttons had flashing lights. I pushed cancel and they went out. But now every time I start the machine I hear it making a noise like its trying to work but no sounds of water. After about 15 or 20 seconds it shuts itself off. If I open the machine its completely dry. I have tried turning the breaker off to let it reset but that didn't work. Before I start throwing parts at it I's like to hear some ideas.

Thanks
Greg

Flashing option lights is just a Power Failure notification. First I would verify that the water supply is turned on.  Then I would check the float switch and make sure it's not stuck in the up position.  If you have access to a multimeter, check for 120V at the fill valve when trying to start a wash.  If no voltage reading at the valve, check to make sure the float switch contacts are closed when in the down position. If the valve and float switch check out, you may have a bad control board.  If you have voltage at the valve, but no water coming in, your inlet valve needs replacing.

Thanks for your helpful tips. I finally got in there with a multi meter and tested the float switch. It had continuity so it was good and I then checked the water inlet valve for the same thing. The water inlet valve had no continuity so I think that's my faulty piece. I think that would explain why it goes to the power error when trying to fill. I will be ordering a new valve and I will let you know how it goes.

Eureka!

Thanks again LowSL2. I got the machine buttoned back up today with the new water inlet valve and it works like new. It took a $30 part but saved me $370 over replacing it.
