condensor fan continually runs
« on: July 28, 2013, 01:30:45 PM »
I have a kitchen aid frig kscs25ftms00. Recently the condenser fan continually runs, then stops for a second, then starts again. All coils are clean. The compressor is not hot. Otherwise everything works fine. This fan should not continually run.

The fan runs when compressor runs and shuts off when compressor shuts off.If it shuts off when compressor is running you need to make sure you have 120 volts to condenser fan when it off and if you do the fan motor is bad.

Also that condenser fan motor gets it power from this board that is not available. It would have to be rebuilt if you find that the motors is good.Or you could wire the fan so it does run all the time as it does not use a lot of power anyways.Better if fan is bad at this point.

The compressor does not run all the time, just the fan. So I either let the fan continually run( until the motor burns out and then get another fan motor) or get the board rebuilt? Is that what your saying?

IF THE FAN RUNS ALL THE TIME IT WILL NOT HURT ANYTHING.BUT THAT STARTING AND STOPPING OF THE FAN MOTOR MEANS THAT RELAY ON BOARD IS STICKING AND CAUSING FAN TO START AND STOP.THAT IS A SMALL WATTAGE FAN MOTOR AND CAN RUN A LONG TIME THAT WAY CONTINUALLY MAYBE YEARS.IT WHEN IT STOPS RUNNING AND COMPRESSOR IS RUNNING WITHOUT IT THAT WILL CAUSE NO OR POOR REFRIGERTION.
