Kenmore Model 110.82082110 Slow Spin
« on: July 24, 2013, 12:05:46 PM »
Washer spins slow.  Seems to be worse as weight of items increases.  Happens on load of wet towels but not on smaller loads or lighter items.  Will even slowly increase spin speed as load gets water weight spun out.

You're probably going to be out of luck with this one.  Most of the drive parts for these old belt drives have been discontinued.  I have a new basket drive collecting dust in my shop, but I checked and it's the wrong one for your washer.

What part(s) do you think it might be?  Drive block, basket drive, clutch? I could get lucky.

It's been so long since I've worked on these, I've forgotten a lot of what I've learned.  Hopefully someone will jump in and help me out. There is an adjustment you can make at the end of the actuator, either a nut or a stack of washers.  I can't remember if this is a clutch adjustment or brake adjustment. I think if you back off the nut or remove a washer or two, you will get a stronger clutch.  Of course, if your clutch lining is worn out, this probably won't help.

Loose belt? Should have 1/2 inch in & out play between motor and pulley to the right. Nut is above the motor on the frame ,loosen and with channel lock pliers pull motor to the left and tighten nut.

I neglected to say that tightening the belt is what I thought and I did tighten it.  Perhaps I should check again to see if it loosened.  One thing, though, is that the spinning does seem to get up to normal sometimes after it spins some of the water weight out.  Do you think it could be the drive block?

So it starts to spin right away,or drains most of it out and then spins? It is supposed to drain 80% before it starts to spin.

Everything seems normal until it starts to spin, then it spins slow.  Seems to depend on the weight of the conternts - happens with load of wet towels, but not with load of lighter items.

Again does it drain most of the water before trying to spin?
