GE Dryer Leaking

(1/1)

TechnicianBrian:

Model #DVLR223EV0WW, yes a dryer that leaks. The customer was complaining about water running out from the dryer door. Dryers heat damp clothes causing the moisture to evaporate and then the airflow from the blower will take the moisture and send it out the vent. If the vent is restricted or blocked in any way, the airflow is reduced causing the humidity inside the drum to ever increase until it reaches 100% which happens to be the most water the air will hold. Since the water cannot escape, it will have a tendency to start condensing on cooler parts of the dryer housing (the bottom door for example) and the dryer starts to leak. I suggested to the customer that they unblock the vent (buried behind a bush so thick I couldn't even take a picture) to get their dryer working properly again.
