GE Refrig Freezer

i need some help here i purchased this refrig used but noticed that there was ice in the freezer compartment i am not sure if ice should form in the freezer or not and if not then what could be wrong to be causing this?

Ice in the freezer is caused by 2 main things:

 1. Air leaks from the door seals
2. Bad defrost system (heater, main board or thermostat)
