G.E. refrigerator needs to be put into defrost cycle
« on: July 03, 2013, 09:11:14 PM »
Hello everyone,  I have a G.E. top mount freezer refrigerator, model no: GTH18EBC2RWW with S/N: LB750008.  The evaporator was frosted up at the top of the coils.  I think the customer left the door open overnight but I'm not sure.  I defrosted the coils with a hair drier and wanted to force the defrost cycle to check out the unit.  This refrigerator has a standard dial cold control but a adaptive defrost board mounted in the control area.  Does anyone know how I can put this unit into a defrost mode so I am able to check out the heater & thermostats?  Thanks, Tom

Press the door switch 3 times within 5 seconds and close the door.
