AJ's new dryer, Whirlpool WED4900XW0
« on: June 29, 2013, 07:54:43 PM »
Replaced our 15 year old Maytag LDG7304AAE gas dryer with a Whirlpool WED4900XW0 electric dryer today.

Wife wanted to get the latest greatest washer and dryer, but I wanted to keep our old Maytag dependable drive washer as it still works fine and replace just the dryer.

A few things I was looking for in a dryer.

1. Whirlpool basic time tested simple two roller style dryer with the lint filter on top.
2. Electric, I don't think the natural gas dryer saved us anything over the years.
3. Large capacity.
4. Finger style dampness sensor for the auto dry.

Thinks I'm happier about what we ended up with then my wife is, lol...

Removed the old gas line and installed the new dryer outlet myself.

I hope you capped the gas line @ the end just in case the shut off leaks.

AJ - that looks just like the dryer I have, which just stopped working on us this morning.   Ours is about 6 ~ 8 years old.   My wife started it this morning and when I found it off, I assumed the clothes were dry.   The clothes were still very wet, but when I attempted to re-start the dryer, nothing happened.   Checked the Breaker - okay.    No motor sound, no noise period.    I'll probably be starting my own post with the specs later.

Looks like a nice un. Hope it don't have that Invensys timer in it, or you will be buying timers. Well I peeked and it don't have an invensys timer it has a midwest looking timer made in Mexico.

I think I like your old dryer better.  I never buy any new appliances.  It's too easy to find a broken one and fix it for cheap.  The Whirlpool is a good dryer, what the ladies don't like is the lint screen that leaves dust on the top every time they pull it out.  My current dryer is a four roller gas Whirlpool. Got it for free and replaced the gas coils. It replaced a top lint screen Whirlpool, made my wife very happy.

Old one may have been a better dryer, but after it got flooded out from the sewage backup I just did not feel like messing with it.
