The dryer [LDG8410AAW] keeps drying long after laundry is dry using the auto stop permanent press setting.
It does stop using the auto stop regular, per my wife.

Does it shut off eventually? There is additional time built into permanent press for the cool down. This is a very simple dryer control wise so if the regular cycle works the problem should be in the timer since the same thermostat is used for both cycles.

Sorry for the delay, preparing for the 4th. In the meantime, we tested the dryer and it does seem to be the timer that is ailing.
Is it worth changing the timer?  Is it difficult to change out timer?

Did you check the gas coils to see if they quit after a while? That will give you the same symptom.

when the dryer continued to run the heat stayed on.
Does that indicate a coil problem?
We used a separate timer to manually turn off dryer.
The dryer works properly on the regular auto setting.

No it would get warm or cool after a while, but fix it there is nothing as well made as that now.

The way I check these is to put a voltage meter on the timer motor wires. When the burner shuts off, power should be applied to the timer motor and the pointer on the dial should move.I put a small mark on the face plate so that I can tell if it moves. When the burner kicks back on , power to the timer will be cut off.

Part in hand. When you say fast delivery, you mean faaaasssst.

First I need to access the the current timer.
Best way to remove timer dial? :embarassed:
How to access rear of panel without a lot of trail and error and damage? :-\

The actual replace seems fairly straight forward.
