Whirlpool Washer not Spinning

Model Number: LSR5233AW0 icon, this washer would fill and agitate, but when it came time to start the spin cycle, the timer would not advance and just sit there. When I advanced the timer one click, the washer would begin to spin and continue to operate properly indicating this timer has a bad contact. Installed a new timer into this unit, and now it will complete a full wash cycle.
