I have a 1956 GE refrigerator model LH12N I replaced the relay because it started clicking when the compressor would start, got a new ge relay (old stock) the part # was different but the dealer told me it was its replacement. After replacing relay the compressor started just fine, only problem was it wouldn't shut off. Maybe relay was bad so they replaced it, same problem. It ran for several hours to the point things were freezing in refrigerator, temp was 28 F and still running. So my question is would the relay have anything to do with the unit cycling on/off or do I have a completely different problem, maybe the thermostat has went bad too? Any help would be appreciated before I order a thermostat I don't need, thanks.
