I've been working on a ton of these.   Fortunatly,  I don't do warranty work.   I would hate to work for a company that sends you out to fix these under warranty.   People are really pissed.   Did 2 actuators,  a lid switch and a gearcase last week alone.    Also,  2 cabrio bearing kits.    These new machines are goldmines!/.

I've only seen two so far.  Maybe they're not selling in my area.

You can still get the direct drive in a coin-op machine.  I picked one up for a customer last week.  The salesman said the VMW coin-ops are coming in soon and the price is going up $50.  He said Whirlpool has spent 11 million to make the commercial machines heavy duty.  I think that plastic transmission would have to be the first thing to go.

I know I will personally not be recommending any commercial machines to any of my customers.    I'll be there every month.    I can't see the plastic cam kit,  pulley and tranny holding up in a commercial situation.   Just junked a home model,  needed a motor and lady didn't want to spend the money to fix it.    She said when she gets new one,  I could have the "OLD" one,   17 months old.   She said she's gonna buy a front loader.   Good luck.

Someone asked me which washer I recommended that was just a plain old washer. The Frigidaire was the only one that still had a transmission. I went to a school last week provided by Marcone. The new washer no longer has a transmission. Just a motor that goes back and forth like everybody else. Watching it work I just can't believe it will clean clothes.

I was back at commercial laundry store, picking up a couple of direct drives before they were gone.  I took a look at the VMW coin-ops, the ones that Whirlpool spent $11 mil R&D on.  The tech said they don't move the clothes around very good.  I looked at the agitator and there are no fins on it.  Everything else is the same.  So that must be an 11 million dollar agitator. It makes sense though, if it's not moving clothes, it's not stressing the rest of the cheap components.

Can you imagine someone waiting for the lid to unlock in a rental or Laundromat Whirlpool VMW so they can dry them? Lid locks galore! I am trying to save as many Dependable Drive Maytag machines as I can.

I had one of these last night. Customer bought it new from $ears. Drove three hours round trip, got it home and the power cord was smashed. Looked like it came that way from the factory...

You'll get a malfunctioning actuator code.
