LG WM1814 Front Load Pump Mystery
« on: April 14, 2015, 07:13:28 AM »
My LG front loader has a mystery that I can't solve.
After the WASH cycle the water pumps out 100%.
The the RINSE cycle fills and finishes fine. Then the
water should pump out again, However, just hear the
pump making noise with no flow. It trys to do this
on and off for 10 minutes then STOPS and issues  "OE"

If pump was bad, or sensors bad, or blockage why does
1st pump operation work?
Am I missing something?
Is there a sensor that is not needed for change in cycles,
but senses in RINSE cycle?
Help...

This isn't a mystery at all. If unit is over 1 year old replace pump. Bad spot, weak starting after it gets warmed up!

how far down the drain is the drain hose?

I moved the machine to the garage.
I am operating it with the hose discharging in the air.
Thanks

That makes sense. I was going to start measuring
voltages at the pump, so I have to take it apart anyway.

Thanks

Thanks to your help, the mystery is  solved.
You were right the problem was the pump.
I pulled the pump and found that the plastic impeller
of the motor was loose. Since the pump says 120 volt
I applied line current to it and it spun fine but when I got the
courage to hold back the impeller it no longer spun, the motor,
however, kept turning.

Not wanting to pay $30 plus for a new pump I just fixed mine.
Cost me all in the way of a large paperclip.
