data logger for fridge
« on: July 17, 2016, 02:51:33 PM »
I had been looking for a decent, but inexpensive, data logger that would log a fridge's temp over a period of time.  I found this Elitech RC-5 on Amazon for under $20.  I have used it a couple of times and it works great.  There is a program that comes with it and you can set up how often it logs the temperature.  Very useful when a customer says its not cooling right, but it seems to be when you are there.

I've had a Supco SL300T for years. I almost bought one those cheap ones when I thought I lost mine for good. Customer had it for 6 months before I got it back. The Supco cost $65. For $20, I might get one just so I have a spare.

Wow, that does seem dirt cheap for a data recorder. The digital display would be nice for the customer to be able to see the temp too.
How well the digital display work when it's in the freezer?

Just come across this well looking at temp loggers.
First time I have seen disposable ones.

On the cheap one. The display goes out after a few minutes.

Could you share some screen shots of what the software looks like?

Thanks,

What's your sample interval? I have mine set for every minute. I can get 30 days of logging at that setting. Sometimes my graph gets pretty squiggly. I'm thinking of trying 5 minute samples.
I used mine this week. A tenant was moving out and said the refrigerator was shot. The owner thinks he's just trying to get out of paying for a broken shelf. I think she's right.

I usually set it at 4 minutes. I have only used it a couple of times.
