Maytag dishwasher door latch

I'm replacing the door latch and the connector clips do not readily come off - is there a  retainer clip or some release or do they just come off with brute force?

You'd think they soldered those darn terminals on, as hard as they stick

I have to use a good pair of needle-nose pliers to grasp the flat sides of the terminal and pull. (This is the reason they include the switches on the new latch...too much brute force) If you accidentally pull out the innards of your old switch, then resort to a second pair of pliers to remove the blade from your terminal.
