Stopping during spin cycle
« on: April 27, 2013, 08:41:39 AM »
My maytage pav2300aww stops abruptly during the spin cycle. I have replaced the thrust bearing because it wasn't spinning fast enough to eject the fabric softener, and the cloths were still dripping wet. Could this be a snubber problem???
I used the thicker washer when replacing the thrust bearing.  Thanks for any help

I will try and identify what you have going on here. If your Washer stops abruptly during a Spin Cycle - sounds like a timer issue. (possibly your lid switch might be going bad also). If your clothes were still dripping wet - I have to ask you does the washer spin the tub at a high speed? If not the brake is not releasing due to a worn HELIX GEAR that needs to be adjusted at the bottom of the transmission (underneath machine). Also you might want to take the belt off the bottom and spin the water pump by hand (these machines are prone to bad bearings on the water pumps). If you feel any drag what so ever replace the WATER PUMP. You will feel grinding noise and drag if pump is bad. The snubber ring is only for High Speed Spin to stabilize the tub in High Spin Speed. Hope this helps. Let us know what you find.

sense I've replaced the thrust bearing the washer spins up to speed now but stops abruptly, and then starts again. The drum does wobble some that's why I'm thinking it's the snubber ring. I was also thinking of replacing the belt. Starting with the cheaper & easier fixes I guess  ???

Is the motor still going when the tub stops spinning?

yes, the motor keeps going. the agitators keep turning. Indicating the motor is still running. The drum gets up to speed then stops, and starts again. It does this till the spin cycle is done.
