Hi I have a smaller 27” wide Whirlpool fridge and it will not get very cold... in fact the freezer doesn't freeze any more. Though there is ice / frost built up in the freezer.
Tested: (after defrosting the freezer)
Defrost heater element tested out good with Ohms.
I put the fridge into defrost from the defrost timer... and the element didn't heat up.
Next I checked the defrost thermostat with Ohms (in ice cold water) no resistance “BAD”..
So I turned on the fridge over night and the fridge is moderately cold and the freezer is not frozen. So I'm left to believe there is something else wrong.... maybe the compressor?
The compressor is warm... I unplugged the fridge and then plugged it back in after (30 seconds,) the amp draw on start up is 1.0..
Tested amp draw on compressors 5 minutes into running and the amps = 1.0
Tested compressors resistnace from the power supply (the three pins on the side) (18 / 12 / 5.6) seems high... or are these numbers OK.
It's hard to tell if the compressor is running... there's some light vibration, but hardly noticeable....
So is the compressor going bad or should I replace the compressor relay?
Thanks for the help!
